Art Timeline Comparison.... :U

Description

I've just been doing work recently that I can't upload (until.... 1.5 years later... oh boy), and I got inspired to make this drawing timeline comparison thing that everybody does.

WOW SMASH BOOM CRASH BASH 2005 DRAWINGS!!!!!!!!!!! SCREAM

In 2005, I was 12 years old, in elementary school, and just started playing around in photoshop for a few months... it doesn't seem as significant when you think about it that way. :P

6 years later, I started at Calarts.

And then 2014, a year before graduating Calarts.

I just wanted to say this... It goes without saying that I might improve significantly from 12 years old to 18 years old- but having a real passion to keep drawing, studying, and improving on your own (whatever motivation you have in mind, whether it's simply to become dA famous or something greater than that) is really the foundation to finding your artistic voice and becoming more skillful... Practice drawing subjects that you don't normally draw, force yourself to focus on your weakest points (whether it's creating color palette, painting, or literal character design), and break out of your comfort zone..

Obviously innate talent is something that exists, but hard work and a passion for what you do is 95% what results in success, in the end. If someone is extremely talented but doesn't do much about it, they're still not going to get anywhere. If someone has a little bit of talent but a strong drive, passion for what they do, and a clear goal, then they're going to be the ones to become successful in the world... Glen Keane, in his own words, said that he was considered very mediocre when he went to Calarts, perhaps one that his peers considered one of the least talented. There were many Calarts character animators more talented than he was, but they were la-la-laing their way through Calarts... and he had a passion for drawing and worked hard. He doesn't know where the lazy-talented people are now, but now he's here- one of the most iconic Disney animators in the past few decades.

SO DON'T GIVE UP, BE INSPIRED BY EVERYTHING AROUND YOU, HAVE A TRUE PASSION, DRAW OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE, BE COOL.

(whee whoo)
